About Keep Sapelo Geechee

After the McIntosh County Commission voted to change the historic zoning in Hog(g) Hummock, the Sapelo Island Cultural & Revitalization Society (SICARS), Hog Hammock Community Foundation, Save Our Legacy Ourself (SOLO), and One Hundred Miles joined together to launch a petition drive. We collected more than 2,300 signatures of McIntosh County registered voters who were in favor of repealing the new, harmful zoning. A judge scheduled a referendum for October 1, but unfortunately, another judge reversed his decision. We have appealed to the Georgia Supreme Court.
